I have to assume [there I go again, assuming] that this only runs when there are no other users connected. You do check for that don't you?
How safe is this process? Could we lose everything if the power failed at the right (wrong) moment? Should a user backup first? Or at least copy QDIR.* to another folder. Of course, you could do that couldn't you.
