There seems to be rampant confusion in Connecticut, Poipu, New York and elsewhere as to what comet components are installed with various workstation/server install procedures. I am listing them here for future reference.

Let me state at the outset the recommended procedure for multi-user installations.

1. On the (each) Server, perform the server install. This will install the Comet File server and Security server and launch them as services.

2. On the server from which all workstations will run, perform a standalone workstation install. This will install all workstation files needed to run comet. Install to a shared folder on some computer to which all workstations have access. This may (or may not) be the same computer that is running the Comet file server.

3. On each workstation, run a workstation install selecting the network workstation (minimal) option. This should be done only if the files listed below are not present on the workstation.

4. On each workstation, create a shortcut to Comet.exe on the Shared folder outlined in step 2 above.

As of April 1, 2006, here are lists of Comet Components installed for various workstation install options.
