It sounds like you may have the file server running as a service on this system. If that's true, then you will be running whichever version was installed using the Server Installation program.
In the forum post linked to below, Jim lays out the steps for how we envisioned a network installation would be done. When done this way, the file server installed in the Comet folder on the server will be copied to the workstation when it logs in. It will be used to serve the directories on the workstation. This may not be the same version serving the directories on the server if the version of Comet included a different version of the file server than the version in the last Server Install that you run on the server. It is OK if they are different. What is important is that you have a version with no known problems that could adversly effect your installation. Since a potentially harmful problem introduced in 6.01 was corrected in 6.06, I strongly recommend you run on that version.
