OK, so I missed a day, that would be Tuesday. We got a late start seeing as how our clock that it was an hour earlier than it really was. But we walked out thru Retiro Park, saw the glass house and the palace, then exited and walked up by the Prada and the other museums. Got a call from Jeni who'd spent the previous night throwing up, apparently she was sitting next to someone on her bus ride over the weekend who came down the stomach flu and conveniently passed it on. So she went to sleep and we decided to walk down into the old part of town. Went as far as the palacia, then wandered around in an area recommended for the tapas. Found a great restaurant where we had something delicious which was an egg cooked with truffles and foamed kind of like a cappucino. Whew, good. Also a delicious soup (not gazpacho, more like a red pepper coulis with cream). Ah well, two other dishes, and everything was great. It's amazing to sit down to dinner here and buy a bottle of wine for 7 euro! We can't even get a glass at that price in Hawaii. Back to the apartment for a bit of rest, then up and about through the Salamanca area. Wednesday, today, we walked the Gran Via. Wandered about, heard from Jenie, she's doing better so we will go see Senora this evening. Wandered down to the Sol area again, feet and legs are dying, looking forward to Mallorca so I can sit for a while!
