I am 90% done with a Novell to Win2003 conversion and did witness that there's a huge performance difference between Netware and Windows.

I remember back in the days Signature claimed that Comet on Windows was 30% slower than on DOS, this is also true for servers.

I found that a P-III 833mhz Server running Novell 4.11 will beat the crap out of a Dual Xeon 3.2ghz server running Windows 2003. Both equiped with gigabit ethernet cards and lots of RAM and RAID5. Since I ran this test some major improvements have been made to CometServe and CFAM also helps the Windows case.

So, going to Windows is not my prefered solution but we are stuck in the wave like teh rest of the world and have to "keep up with the jones". I also had Novell 6.5 on a dual Xeon 3.0ghz server and was not impressed with performance, I blame the java console in Novell and all the "fancy" stuff they put in it to keep up with Windows and Linux.
