Getting at the data

I've been asked to write a web interface to data stored in a Comet system but I don't know anything about Comet data storage so forgive me if my questions seem naive. I'd like to write this application in standard ASP running on IIS. For me to do that I'll have to have access to the client's Comet data which is stored on another server. I'm accustomed to accessing data via ODBC or OLE DB. Are these interfaces available? What are my options?
