Update on my adventures with mstsc.

a) Using the right syntax is always helpful. "/" not "-".

"mstsc /v:ssasd00 /console /w:1024 /h:768"

b) use a PC on which RDP is working 100%. My main remote control PC will not work with mstsc or with

http://ssasd00/tsweb/default.htm

Microsoft hasn't been able to help find the problem. Don't know when this went bad as I probablt haven't tried these options since Nov 2003 when I installed SBS 2003.

What works to connect to session 0 on the server.

1) Remote Web Workplace, Servers, check the "Log on to or resume the console session of the remote computer" option. If the connection fails and Full Screen is set, try selecting the servers screen size from the drop down list.

2) "mstsc /v:ssasd00 /console /w:1024 /h:768" . I had to add the screen size parameters after getting the same failed connections as in #1.

What connects but not to session 0.

3) The Remote Server Management link installed on SBS workstations. It a favorite in IE and diplays on the internal Company web site.

4) Running from a .rdp file. There's no option in the RDP dialog to select session 0.

What might work and I have yet to test.

5) Create a .bat file with "mstsc ssasd.rdp /console /w:1024 /h:768"

Maybe this option will "merge" the settings.

For SBS 2003, #1-#4 should make connections. For Server 2003, #2 and #4 should make connections.

I'm also going to see if I can find more "/" options than mstsc reveals in it's help file.
