I totally agree with your feelings about this. I'm glad this is a subscriber situation. I also bet that the customer has no idea of what changed in their system to make this suddenly happen.
Looking back on release versions, the best thing that you can do for the customer is to upgrade to the last comet 2004 release. Looking at the announcements, I see we were dealing with error 75 issues back then.
