This is just something else to consider..

The short story is are you sure your network wiring is up to par?

Recently we had a client (non-comet) that was experiencing random problems.
Most visible, network printers were going off line.
Windows not automatically reconnecting to the printers.
Other problems with ping working / not working.
We looked at this and looked at that, nothing made sense.

Well this building was still wired with CAT 3 wire.
Over the years the 10base hub was replaced with a 10/100.
No big deal all the PC's were 10base.
Then a few pcs were added here and there.
And new printers were attached to the network.
Well these nice new devices started talking 100base over the old CAT 3 wire.
Yea it worked but...
Anyway we went and locked all the network connections at 10base.
Problems looks to be solved.

Perhaps the same thing would happen with buildings wired with Cat 5 and newer PC's with built in Gigabit Cards.
