Invalid File Access Not Reported

At one time would a comet client attempting to write sequential data to an OBJ file get an invalid file access error?

We are seeing an increase in the number of times that an OBJ file has been corrupted by a user mistakenly specifying an OBJ file name as an output file/device. I don't know of any instance of this happening before sequential file access was moved to CometSrv. Is there a reason that the system would not throw off an error if a user attempted to write to an OBJ file?
