Apparently, the timeout for a physical network failure is not 30 seconds, but more like 7 seconds. I've been testing the client/server products to see exactly how they behave during a catostrophic failure (disconnected cable) and found that they tend to fail with a winsock error 10054 after about 7 seconds. We're discussing possible solutions to this problem which may include some sort of auto-reconnect feature.
