Are they using Windows 2003 Server? We are suspicious that accounts with this problem began having trouble after installing SP2. If the IP address of the server changes the connection can be lost. You might try using only static IP addresses throughout the network or manual IP renewal only. More info to consider is in the Microsoft article linked to below.
