Am assuming you are talking about POSTAL BARCODES, as there are more than one class of codes. In my limited experience, our Printronix 600 LPM the ASCI codes were set out in their manuals and programmed in the Comet Code.
In the case of our HP5000 Laser Jet printer, we had to buy a plug-in postal barcode card from HP in order to use the PCL codes to print out the barcodes.
Another shocker, the lower price HP Laser printers i.e. HP Laserjet 1000 does not come with any PCL codes, whereas in case of the HP LaserJet 1200 the PCL codes are included in the hardware. So the model and make of the printer is important.
Am sure Robert's experience with barcodes is much more extensive than mine, but we had no problem with either printer using the correct ASCI codes for each printer in Comet programs.
