PostNet barcodes is one I use.
I also wrote the code to generate Code 128 barcodes, Interleaved 2 of 5 and (somewhere) Interleaved 3 of 9.

The code 128 is becomming the standard in the shipping industry. US Postal Services will accept only Code 128 for barcoded parcels as of January 14, 2004.

I didn't know about the HP 1000. It probably fits in the category of the very innexpensive "for Windows" printers.

I had a similar problem about a year ago designing a Laser Invoice Printing on a printer with no or few resident font but still PCL compatible. So I simply upload 3 graphical fonts and all the logos to the printer's memory before printing.

To generate the three PCL soft fonts (point sizes 8, 9 and 12) I simply used Windows... and a tid bit of tweaking... :-)

Converting logos from a black and white .BMP to a PCL format is also fairly easy. They are converted into a soft macro and can be recalled anywhere a on page with a simple PCL call.
