Dam! Wow! With my recent blog about backing up data before closing an accounting period before I proceed with the actual update, I'm surprised. Been doing this since 2002. Lot's of backup data. It has generated business for me when the client wants to access data say from five years ago. New reports, inquiries, etc. Most recently, (this week) it has helped me debug a Payroll situation that occurred last month. Client swore I was at fault, off with my head, demands a refund. The backup proved they were. I create NEW sub-directories, use the COPYFILE mnemonic, switch directories, etc. Used to use the FSTAT to get the CURRENT and NEXT file to process. I've drifted to opening QDIR.DIR and do READS. The backup routine is basically create the new sub-dir, and loop around a QDIR.DIR READ and a CopyFile. Backup program is really small. I DON'T use this across Comet Anywhere. That's another story. I do not use the /O1 command line option.
