Valid points Justin. I've yet (maybe I've been lucky) to be in such a disaster here. Never had lightning or fire destroy any server equipment in my 25 year. But, there has been one theft and they took the dongle. I believe Signature has since amended a policy to deal with theft.
Both options would be best. keep what's in place and add the 'no dongle' code if/when demanded by clients.
VmWare is cool. I've got a few test systems on my development computer.
I think Jim said it best with regard to Comet's lack of a software key.
