We had the same issue crop up, and I did a little research yesterday. I found a solution, and verified it a few times. Its pretty simple -- turn off the UAC (User Account Control). When I turned this off, Comet started perfectly. When I turned it back on, we got the "server not found" message. Repeated the process 3 times just to confirm, and the results were consistent.

UAC can be turned off in the control panel under the user accounts icon. Hope this helps.
