Any configuration items declared globally will be applied to all nodes. So if you declare one SORT gateway globally, each node will get one SORT gateway. Each SORT gateway allocates 64K of memory on the Comet host. Each simultaneous sort user will require their own gateway. So if you will need to run 2 reports on one node at the same time you would need 2 SORT gateways.

The memory allocated for the SORT gateway does not diminish the number of configured partitions. I think that was what you were asking?

As a side note, the 9.02 UTL release includes changes in the Reporter to no longer use the SORT gateway. If you've converted from #FILES to #CFILES, you should be on this newer version.
