OK, I am back home again, 8 hour drive, nothing sprang to mind during the drive.

When I dialled in with MSTSC, there were a couple of messages on the screen, from SEcsrvui & filesrvui saying
"Cretae Pipe (msg) failed 231"
When I cleared those the server console appeared and new logins were blocked, as was the database server. The icons in the tray had the big red line thru them. I cannot recal looking at the screen before I left, The server (W2K3) is stuck away in a cupboard and has a very crappy screen.
I was able to log in and create some sessions, some things appeared to work , some didn't. I didn't spend too long on that though as they will be getting to work in half an hour and I wanted to restart the server before they arrived. This particular majhine takes about twenty minutesto restart, no idea why.
I will attach ini & a few logs. If you want the passwords for access via MSTSC I will send them to you.
