BB:

Thanx for the speedy response!

actually, I consulted with a person who's got about 20+ years of COMET (vs. my 13 weeks or so) and it was her thought that we were tracing a communications problem some time ago and set it then.

However, the problem is much more fundamental.... the 3.6GM of messages in CometSrv.log was generated in ONE DAY, and all the others (up to CometSrv6.log) only go back a short time!

I'll need some help "bringing up the file server console", as I've never re-booted or shutdown COMET on the TEST system. Not to worry... we have a PRODUCTION system that chugs along day in and day out.

Once I stop logging with "SHOW NONE", what will be the procedure to get rid of the message logs out there. I know it was some kind of run-away program, and so I don't need the info... I don't care because I've solved the problem with the program.

Is there any way to delete any/all of these log files right now, and just allow COMET to create one on the fly if it wants to post a message? the last message was posted to CometSrv.log 3 days ago (when we nearly filled the disk, and the real festivities began), and so I'm confident I'm not going to be posting any new messages, as this is only a TEST system.

I was planning to delete CometSrv1.log thru CometSrv6.log right away, and even CometSrv.log (if I could)

Thanx again for your help!

Bob "A" (as they say on the call in shows... "Long time programmer, first time COMET programmer"... actually since the IBM 7000/1400 series machines, if that means anything)
