It certainly has been discussed, but it always comes back to the same problem... The comet database and relational databases like SQL are built to serve different purposes, and thus the interface reflects that. Giving an SQL-like interface to comet keyed files would be like giving array-like indexes to a linked list - they are two separate concepts.

Now I know there are a lot of opinions out there on this, and I'm not trying to start a flame-war, so i will state some of the arguments here:

A) There are a lot of developers that would find an SQL interface very useful, but it would be impractical to convert to an SQL database
B) IB naturally uses keyed files, so there's a large disincentive to using an SQL database (though now with the SQL driver, maybe not?)
C) Actually maintaining an SQL database can be a pain...
D) Justin is a newb and should just listen to the L337 developers ;)

So all that being said, I think there definitely is room for some SQL-like funtionality here. Something like the SearchFile you mentioned, and other ways to access and find data would be great additions. I just don't forsee you ever being able to "SELECT * from C1A WHERE" in comet...

That was probably a lot more of a response than you were expecting... in any case I'm glad you like the new driver! =)
