Welcome, Mark!

First of all we need to verify what versions of Comet and the file server you are running. The easiest way to do that is for you to send us the Startup Details. You can view this by clicking on "View" then "Startup Details" at the top left of your Comet window. Save the output to a text file and post it to the forum please.

Now, about multi-keyed files... It sounds like the key portion of the file is damaged. Multi-keyed files are comprised of multiple physical files. In the case of #CFILES there are actually 4 physical files: #CFILES, #CFILES.I00, #CFILES.I01, and #CFILES.I02. #CFILES contains the records. The others contain the keys. There is one file for each key defined. #CFILES has the primary key plus 2 sub-keys. You should not attempt to directly modify any of these files. The integrity of the relationship between them is maintained for you by the file server.

Comet Explorer has a file verification utility that will check your files. Perhaps you should run it and see where you stand. To do this, right click on a keyed file in one of your directories. Select "Verify File". It will allow you to specify a range of files to be checked. Please do that and send your Startup Details. Then we can decide what to do next.
