Fooled around with this for fun in VirtualBox (Ubuntu 9.10) and CrossOver Pro 8.
CrossOver -> Install Software -> Install Unsupported -> CaInstall.exe (in WinXP bottle)
Install goes OK, but launching gets this:
Comet Launcher
Run-Time Error '429':
ActiveX component can't create object
I've seen this before. It's pretty common when searching for "wine 429 activex" or similar.
Use CrossOver to install IE6 in the same bottle you installed CometAnywhere. When that downloads & installs & simulates a reboot, launch and use of CometAnywhere appear to work OK (was able to connect to office server, use it for 5 minutes, do a test print to local printer).
Mind you, this is only CometAnywhere. Didn't try workstation.
Alternatively, try "winetricks": http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks
