If you want to use the impact printer trick, you have to reprint using a slightly offset position. A bit like a shadow, results would still be iffy.
I also change the fonts for bolder/larger text. Unfortunately every time the font is changed, it has to be re-created (re-generated?). It is a slow process for some printers and using multiple fonts on a page (worst if on each line) makes the whole printing crawl.
I brought this up with Brian in the past. Seems there's no easy solution.
Every report I print uses a minimum of 2 different fonts, some goes to 4. I know that windows generates a handle for each font it generates, but under Comet the font is always re-generated for each font change. Would be nice if Comet "remembered" the fonts used in the current print session. The pre-defined fonts in the toolbar would be a nice option if we could better control them and have as many as we need. My generic print routines (library) computes the size of the fonts on the fly based on paper with, printable with and number of column required (computed from the width of the headers). The "title" font is always 125% of regular font, the library routine takes care of everything. All I need to do is specify column headers (up to 3 lines) and the report title, then I just start calling the "print-line" routine and it will take care of pagination for me. I don't even have to open the printer or initialize anything.
I just wished that font changes was faster.
