IMAGE files... going away?

mentioned that "Image files are going away"

is there any time frame for this?

We're contemplating an upgrade and I was wondering when I have to address this. we've got only 2 IMAGE files and a manageable number of programs (about 2 dozen) that read them and a few (maybe 6 or so) that write to them.

we will be doing the change from #FILES to #CFILES as mentioned in Mr. Foraker's post, and I'm trying to scope out what I have to do, and when I must do it.

Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
