which prompts the question:

if the LOCK doesn't get removed (as we both agree it "should be") how far would I have to go to reset it considering that this is the only process we're considering, it's the end-of-day process, and it's the only time when all 7 warehouses are coming thru CometAnywhere at the same time to do things. I'd hate to have to re-boot the COMET server here at the main office to reset a file problem in only one warehouse.

note... the LOCK is going to be on files logically connected to each warehouse... I'm only trying to preclude one person physically in the warehouse and one person physically in the office trying to do end-of-day together in the one warehouse.
