DocMgr TXT files

When DocMgr came out I tested PDF, HTML, and TXT files. Didn't find any value in HTML and TXT for the archiving of production reports.

Recent changes in DocMgr, addition of "Print All" particularly, has led me to do some more testing.

PDF has a WYSIWYG rating of 9.5.

HTML has a WYSIWYG rating of zero. Everything runs together. Can send reports like this to outside people or high ranking people inside.

TXT, at first fooled me. I printed a DIRCAT directly to my printer and the same report via DocMgr. DocMgr replaces FF's with a long line of dashes. Coincidentally the extra dash line caused the page to overflow just at the right point and made the DocMgr version appear be doing form feeds. Fooled me :) Alas, production reports just run together. Thus, TXT too, has a WYSIWYG rating of zero.

A suggestion. Instead of just a dash line, use something like "---<<< FF >>>---". When the DocMgr is doing its "unspool" it puts the FF back in. TXT would then be OK for internal use and any printed reports would be acceptable for outside uses (accounts, customers, vendors, etc). Might bump the rating up to 5. This would be a very close approximation of QSPOOL and a decent transition option on the road to PDF.

Other suggestions.

1) The password option isn't workable for me. CometEx is controlled with a flag set in the security file. Could more flags be added for DocMgr. Export Y/N, Import Y/N, Move Y/N, Delete Y/N etc.

2) The "Print All" button should only be visable or enabled when the user is looking at a TXT archive. Users are going to select PDF's, click "Print All", select the printer options, etc. Ten minutes later I'm going to get a support call because nothing printed.

3) Too much overhead in the dialog. Show "Document Manager" in the title bar. Delete "Welcome to Comet" and the "looking glass" picture. Move "Close" to end of the line of buttons. Make the List View longer.
