A stumbling block on my Comet2011/Comet32 rollout

Was trying to do an upgrade to Comet2010/Comet16 so that I could test out connectivity with both:
Windows 2000
Wingows 7

In doing so, I found out that my server was actually running

MS Server 2000
-and not-
MS Server 2003

I didn't find any mention of MS Server 2000 in the System Requirements item on the wiki.

my only thought is an upgrade to MS Server 2008 R2, as this is probably the most reliable and checked out.

Any Pros and cons on this approach are appreciated.

P.S. the connection to a Windows 2000 workstation worked fine... must be some kind of solidarity among Windows 2000 software products.
