I received some suggestions from Microsoft on this problem. As an aid, I printed out screen dumps from my Win2003 server. My customer has Win2000 server.

1. Check the LogOn tab and set to "Local System Account".

2. Check HKLM\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\CometServices settings. MS included instructions on saving and then deleting the security key. Didn't do any of that, yet.

All the settings and keys were the same for both #1 and #2 except for that the value of the security key was different. I expected that.

However, Regedit showed that CometKMD was still in place on the customer's system. Settings are ErrorControl = 1, Start=1, and Type=1. My office Win2003 server started in the CSP.exe era and never had the old CometKMD installed.

1. Could the CometKMD be causing the Access Denied?
2. What's the best way to remove all the old stuff?
