If you only want the first 5 characters, you have to parse starting at position 1. Position 0 is the field length byte.
My recollection is that Solution's I1A is the Inventory Master and the key is more like 12 characters.
You should try reading it as an Text File (No Format). Parse the first byte as the "active" length and then your key value as the next X bytes.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
