You are going to have to re-open DIRMAINT, Utility #13, to handle the new keyed file format. I'd like to suggest you make it smarter. As I understand it, the information on the record length and key length (key position?) is someplace in the .I00 file. Once I tell DIRMAINT the file name (and the directory name) can't it find the record length and key length and stop asking me questions about things it can know?
Why is this important?
I develop on my own system. Then I deliver objects, script files, updated #FILES, .D00 files, empty data files, small reference master files. Whew. I deliver them using pcAnywhere and/or CometAnywhere neither of which "knows" the Comet file structure. Then I have to run DIRMAINT until I'm blue in the face and heaven help me if I make one clerical, keying error!
