Brian, before I go down the Windows path, some observations.
First, using CWFONT, I reduced the font size from 12 to 10. Much better, in "normal" an inch of my child window came back into view. So, I reduced to 9. Now the full child window displays. No change in "maximized".
Second, at 10, the child window is bigger in "normal" than it is in "maximized". At 9, the child looks to be the same size in both "normal" and "maximized".
The user's screen settings are 800x600.
