Before I spend (waste) any time on your request to go back and install previous (unspecified) versions of Comet, let me explain what should happen and why.

In earlier versions of dos, the copy command would not copy empty files.

a newly created keyed file would have some data in the I00 file but the data file would be empty. Comet was smart enough that if there were a qdir entry for a file but the dos file did not exist, it would create the file in the open call and not give the program an error.

I believe that Comet behaved that way for all file types.

If CFAM did not behave the same way, I would agree that it would be a bug.

So, in my mind, your statement that ...."a program could trap the Qdir entry with no file" is wrong. There would be no error.

I will set up a test and report back here soon.
