USB Dongle

I am installing (on WinXP)a USB security dongle for Comet2004 as a dongle upgrade for a customer that had parallel security before. I have run the server installation wizard and have selected USB for the security device. It says it has installed the file server and security server...Then I have re-run the workstation wizard and a shortcut is created with correct /PN. I have rebooted many times and each time it fails to find the usb dongle and says the security server can not be found on any parallel port ...Abort, Retry, or Ignore...
Does the parallel security need to be uninstalled somehow? I have placed the license text file in the same directory as the old license text file was in when the parallel security was installed. But I do not think I am even getting that far for a bad read on the license file...since it says the security server is not found.
One message here suggested to remeove the usb dongle...re-boot, then when the 'can't find' error appears, install the usb dongle and select retry....that did not work either....

Thanks,
John
