Attended the Vista Launch Event here in San Diego yesterday (2/22/07). Way too much info to cover here. Great graphics!!!

The event also covered Office 2007. The main new feature is that all office documents are in XML. And all the familiar suffixes now have an "x" appended. 8.4 is now in? .doc will now be .docx, .xls will be .xlsx. etc. Office files can be saved in Office 97-2003 format using Save As for backwards compatability. There is supposed to be a download conversion tool for Office 97-2003 to import office 2007 XML files.

1) What does the 8.4 do to Comet?
2) Can an .xlsx export be added to Data Express?
3) What about an XML importer?

In the afternoon session, even more XML flavors and dialects. XAML and XOML for web and app development. These require Visual Studio 2005 plus extensions for Vista, .NET 3, and IE7. Theme of all the XML is "open standards" and "multi-platform".

Still stunned from all the flash/bang :)
