Yes, I see. There are 988 records in the middle of the file that are filled with hex zeroes. The file check utilities would not see these as deleted records. When you built keys from them they'd all generate the same key value - all hex zeroes - and write over one another. Thus a subsequent record count would reveal fewer records than were read. So the big question is how did the hex zeroes get there? Which version of Comet are you running. You said you're on 7.01 of the file server, correct? All type "C" dirs? Any other unusual errors on this system? Have you checked QERRLOG lately? How many Comet users are on it? Is this file written to from only one place?
