It's not slow. Let me just get that out of the way -- there aren't any issues with the speed.
Basically, we we've gone from this:
2 x PentiumIII @ 1.13Ghz / 2Gb RAM / RAID5 @ 5400 rpm
Win2000 SBS
Exchange Server
Antivirus Server
Blackberry Enterprise Server
..etc..
..etc..
to this:
2 x Xeon 5130 @ 2 Ghz / 4Gb RAM / RAID5 @ 7200 rpm
Win2003 Standard
Dedicated to Comet
So, big increase in processor/RAM, faster disks, much much less work for the server. I was expecting to see a noticeable increase in speed -- and there is one, but it's marginal. Marginal, as in, I have to actually perform tests and compare the results -- it doesn't feel any snappier.
Not a big deal, really. Most server software loves CPU & memory -- and that's fine, that's the point of adding them to the system. I'd expected the same from Comet, but it doesn't appear to be the case. As in: I could remove 3Gb of RAM from the server, and Comet wouldn't appear to care.
Hmm.
