The way CSV processing is coded, when there is a comma within the field, the whole field is surrounded by double quotes. If there is a double quote within the field, it is "escaped" with another double quote. This allows commas to remain the delimiter with no ambiguity.

When you speak of "scanners on the other side", what program are you talking about?


At present, I see little reason to change the delimiter. This should be discussed at the Comet meeting in October. My mind can be changed.
