I'd be interested to see this spreadsheet file... I've got a fair amount of experience importing/exporting data with Excel and don't ever remember having "@00@", "@01@", "@FE@", and "@FF@" embedded in the CSV file after saving a spreadsheet as a .CSV file
BTW... what version of Excel were you using, and what does "truncated results" mean? I know that I personally have a version of Excel 2003, and there's a limit of 2^16-1 rows (65,536), whereas Excel 2010 has a 2^20-1 (1 Meg) limit, but I think you're talking about lines or fields being truncated.
