Watching news on TV, having a beer and trying to debug this problem late at night. Excel version is 2010. Logged onto State web-site, opened the file under IE9 browser control (FF/Chrome didn't work at all), Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit OS, 64-bit hardware, latest Comet as of last week. I might be a release behind. That's my next step. Get latest Comet everything. Truncation of a string value is if you expect "COMET IS GREAT" and all you can deliver is "COMET IS". Thus my NOTEPAD experiment. Attempted to write a continuous text line beyond 1024 and NOTEPAD doesn't allow it. Does (CR). So made a format as follows:
0020 FORMAT BYTE$(1),9600*1
Under Comet32 performed a READ on the text file and did a ASC on all 9600 array elements. Anything past 1024, the ASC statement gen'd a -1. Conclusion: Comet32 can't read past MS's 1024 text limit. So still on Comet 16 level across board?
