DSTAT supposedly can report up to 16 characters for the node name. I do see that SYSGEN is truncating it to 8 characters. I don't know why that is. I tried making a node name of Win712345678. The .cfg came out Win71234.cfg. I renamed it to Win712345678.cfg and set my Comet shortcut to use /PN=Win712345678 and Comet did come up. The only issue I've noticed so far is that QMONITOR is also truncating to 8 characters for its "Profile name is ..." near the bottom of its display.
Unfortunately the node name is used in so many places it could take a while to track them all down. I can start by changing the first place I see in SYSGEN and see how it goes from there. Certainly if there's any place that tries to use the node name for a Comet file it would have to be truncated to 8.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
