I need help with a program that reads the serial port. I may need help understanding as well.
This program worked with Win 98, tho it never got into production. The user had a Microsoft QuickBasic program that read the scale on the serial port and created a file that I processed in Comet and they stuck with it rather than using this new scheme. They upgraded to Windows XP and, wouldn't you know it, the old Basic program no longer works.
The first time I tried my Comet Serial port program I successfully opened the gateway, but it seems I don't get data. Comrelay.exe is running but I don't know what I should see in that screen. It does say something like:
Serial Port is ready on 2
connecting to Com1:
When I ended the program and tried to start again, I could not open the gateway. Ending and restarting Comet would not let me get to the Gateway. Finally I powered down the workstation and did a cold restart and that gave me back the Gateway, but still no data is coming into the program.
