VPN with Comet 2K4

My client has only used comet on site. Recently they have a need for a remote user to login. We took the machine out of the office and bought it to the users other location. We have established a VPN from the remote location to the office location using linksys VPN routers. The connection is hardware to hardware.

We are able to see the server where comet is located and even launch comet. However, comet hangs when loading with no error messages. It looks like it can't access a port but I can telnet to the port and I do connect.

I am attaching a screen shot of what comet looks like and where it hangs.

As far as I can tell the VPN is working as it should. Any settings I can try? What is that other comet version I have read about on these boards?
