Read Only Atributes on Comet Files

I have notice the following when setting a read only attribute on comet files.

For text and keyed files, FILENT does not return any details.
For OBJ files FILENT returns a 99/A8 and DIRCAT returns a 99/74.

I think it is important to be able to set read only attributes on files, is there a way this can be managed? Is there a way around the errors?
