Well...you gotta know I had a reason.... :-)

I was creating a flagfile(TEXTFILE) that contained the name of a file that a Visual Basic Program will use when scanning an image.

An IB program would Create the flagfile, in DOS. Launch a VB Scanning Program, and then go into a Loop, using the FileStatus Mnemonic to check and see if the flagfile was still there.

The VB Program will read the flagfile, get the name, do the scan, create the scanned image using the name. When done the VB program will delete the flagfile.

The deletion of the flagfile would be indication to the original IB program that the VB Scanning program had exited and that it could continue doing what ever it wanted to do. At this point Comet would have the filename of the Image, which an IB program could then use to display it.

The flagfile needs to be in the DOS world, so the VB program can delete it, without interfering with the Comet file system.

I do have the Comet Create in TMP on CA HOST, Then copyfile to CATEMP on CA Client, Then ERASE in COMET TMP on CA Host process working.

This was not necessarily a request to add a feature, it just seemed odd, to me, that CreateFile was not there.

FYI, I had considered making the VB scan program, a CometLIB program also, but decided against it.
